Sixth Sunday of Easter

This Sunday our First Reading, is about love “enlarging the tent,” as the church starts to realize that God’s embrace is wider than it had imagined. And our Gospel contains some of the greatest words about love ever spoken: Our Lord’s new commandment to love one another as he loves us.

We’re also nourishing our souls through the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. We have the wonderful blessing of sharing Holy Communion together, physically or spiritually, feeding by faith with thanksgiving on the One who laid down his life for us, so that we may have his life within us always.

When our Liturgy ends, the service begins, with a “Sending” forth into the world to share, in word and in deed, the love of God with joy, in the power of the Holy Spirit, in word and in deed.
