It’s the Fifth Sunday of Easter, and our focus this week is Jesus’ new commandment to love one another, and learning that “one another” means not just “everyone in our group,” but rather “everyone in the world.” We’re blessed to have Norman leading and Betty assisting. We’re blessed once again to have our Choir in-person to share an anthem and lead us in 8 congregational Hymns. Last week, we had a mother and daughter tandem as Readers; this week, we’re blessed to have a father and son, with Stacy on video and Freddie in-person. And we’re blessed to have John L’Ecuyer lead us in the Prayers of the People, which include a special Prayer for Ukraine. After the Proclamation of the Word, we’re most blessed to share Holy Communion together, physically or spiritually, feeding by faith with thanksgiving on the One who laid down his life for us, so that we may have his life within us always. We receive Our Lord’s body broken and blood outpoured, that we may be his Body in the world, redeemed by his blood. When our Liturgy ends, the service begins, with a “Sending” forth into the world to love one another, in the broadest understanding of these words, spreading, in word and in deed, the Good News of our Lord’s Risen Life.
