It’s Remembrance Sunday at St. Paul’s, when we gather with hearts filled with gratitude to remember the sacrifices of so many that have won our freedom and peace! The price of freedom isn’t free, and this Sunday we will remember its cost. Our Service has "The Act of Remembrance," which includes naming those connected to our Parish family who have died while serving in the Armed Forces; and listening to the Last Post, Silence, Rouse, and Lament from last year’s Ceremony in Ottawa to mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II.
Our Screens' backgrounds are pictures by the youth of our country who've participated in the Legion's annual poster contests. And our focus throughout, in our Hymns, Readings from Holy Scripture, and Prayers of the People is taking the torch we’ve been handed and holding it high as we engage in the sacred task of peacemaking in our time and place. We shall also remember the Sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour, who laid down his life so that we may live, as we share Holy Communion together, physically or spiritually.
Look for our Worship to be guided by our Virtual Choir leading us in the Hymns, Kerry giving the Children’s Time Talk, Doreen and Kerry giving the Readings from Holy Scripture, Norman preaching, and John L. on audio leading the Prayers of the People (including a Prayer for COP26 from the Bishop of Rupert's Land). The Sanctuary is adorned with poppies, including a poppy banner, the Canadian flag, wreaths, and silhouettes made by our late dear brother Simon to represent those from our Parish who laid down their lives in war in the cause of freedom and peace.
