It’s the Sunday of the Resurrection: Easter Day, the pinnacle of the Church Year! We’re beginning our Service with a special Easter Introduction on our screens entitled “Hope is Here.” We’re sharing Great Easter Hymns throughout, with our Virtual Choir leading us in “Jesus Christ is Risen Today,” “Alleluia No. 1,” and “Crown Him with Many Crowns;” and our instrumental Offertory Hymn “Thine be the Glory” played on the famous organ at All Saints’ Anglican Church in Oystermouth, Swansea, Wales! In our Children’s Time Fergus will be leading us in singing the song “He is Alive!” Norman is assisting, Robbie on video is sharing our First Reading, and Murray in person is leading us in Easter Prayers of Petition and Praise. Our Service then continues with Communion, in which we’re feeding by faith with thanksgiving on the One who laid down his life for us, so that we may have his life within us always. For the first time since last November, we can share in both spiritual and physical Communion together! This is so, because wafers infused with drops of wine are being consecrated during the Eucharistic Prayer, and being made available to everyone for pick up just inside our main entrance between 2:00 and 2:45. The wafers are in individual paper cups, and placed in a sealed baggie, to ensure their safety. After Communion, as our Liturgy ends, the service begins: we go in peace to love and serve the Lord, sharing Good News of this love in all we say and do.
Today’s Service of Holy Eucharist will be livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am. Following the service, the video will be posted on our YouTube Channel, and a link to the service will be added here. Please download the Order of Service if you would like to follow along.
