It’s the Fourth Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Love, and we’re having set before us the love story of our Emmanuel's coming to us and abiding with us, read and sung in a wonderfully special Service of Lessons and Carols. The form of the Service, including its words of introduction, blessings, and prayers, are from the traditional King’s College Service of 9 Lessons and Carols. Using the wonder of technology, we have 9 different members of our congregation sharing the Lessons, congregational singing led by our Choir, and 3 anthems by Choirs from Fredericton, Edmonton, and Halifax from the National Church’s Service of Lessons and Carols. Norman is officiating, and Fergus assisting. Usually, every year we share a Service of Lessons and Carols at our Historic Chapel, and so, in honour of this tradition, there are 15 pictures of the Chapel on our screens during the Service. It promises to be a most precious time of blessing, drawing us deeper into the love of God. Our prayer is that a great many - through technology and the low-tech invitation of family and friends – are able to share it.
Today’s Service of Lessons and Carols was livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am and is now available here or on our YouTube Channel. Please download the Order of Service if you would like to follow along.
